Roland ARX Expansion Cards
The Fantom G8 uses ARX Expansion cards. The new expansion cards from Roland offer un-matched sound quality and add on power. The cards have their own effects processing on board and stunning sampled sound technology. ARX01 Drums is a popular card. This latest Fantom technology combined with the amazing Roland V-Drum technology makes for one hell of a drum kit. The new Fantom G series offers a modeling system similar to that of the Roland V-Drums. Shell types, drum tuning, skins and more all editable within the product to create virtually any drum kit you desire.
Fantom Power Sequencer
Probably one of the most powerful sequencers in a workstation ever. The Fantom G8 offers 128 tracks of recording power. 24 Tracks of audio are also provided. This huge sequencer power is combined with very high quality Roland effects and COSM effects systems for an amazing result. Offering up to 22 simultaneous effects the processing power blows away any competition from other workstations.
The Fantom G8 has a wide LCD screen making the sequencing possibly the easiest ever! The huge display shows everything from waveform editing to MIDI piano roll style editing and can also be used in conjunction with a USB mouse! Insert samples and then the Fantom G will automatically time stretch the sample for you as oyu change tempo so you don't have to mess around with the audio. It is quite amazing!
TRS/XLR inputs
As well as the unbelievable array of features and sounds on the G8, the new 24 track audio recording had to have a new input stage so Roland have given us the best. The combo TRS/XLR input provides high quality Mic or Line recording and even phantom power for those with condenser mics. No corner has been chopped off here. In order for the Fantom G series to do its job Roland have also thought about the external requirements and not let us down!
Our Verdict on the Roland Fantom G8 Workstation
The PHA Alpha II action is worth the money alone! This is a true all round workstation offering all the synthesizer, sound and recording power you could ever need. Good external control and a great number of inputs and quality outputs mean you can not go wrong with the Fantom G8. Bedroom composers to live giggers and studio users are all catered for in this amazing instrument.
