Novation have a heritage of past synthesizers with a unique sound and look all of their own. The Ultranova derives it sound from the classic Supernova synth, adding a much more modern twist and updated sound engine. The result is a powerful hands-on synthesizer with unique features, sounds and even full Automap control so it can be used as a versatile controller keyboard. Additionally, the Ultranova also acts as a USB audio interface with 2 in 2 out connectivity.
300 On-Board Sounds
Creating huge new sounds is what UltraNova is desigend for: as well 14 conventional waveforms and 36 wavetables, users have a total of 5 effects slots for each sound! UltraNova's density & density-detune function enables yusers to fatten-up patches, and the modulation capacity is enormous
With a huge selection of sounds, the ultranova has been installed with a patch finder so the user can easily and quickly look up any type/ genre of instrument with the twist of 1 dial. The high res blue LCD display, clearly shows off patch names amongst other data relating to the sound and category.
If that isn't enough, then the Ultranova also comes with a patch editor/ librarian for you to modify and take control of your sound library. Novation will also release new libraries of sounds for the user to update through free downloads!
Vocoder and Mic Input
The Ultranova is supplied with a free gooseneck microphone so users can start using the powerful 12 band vocoder straight out of the box. The pitch of the keys you play will control the pitch of your voice input and transform your vocal into the classic robot esq' voices of yester year.
USB Audio Interface
On the rear panel of the Ultranova is a USB port combined with 2 inputs and 4 outputs. When connected to a computer this synthesizer transforms into a USB audio interface. Any instruments you plug into the 2 rear inputs from other instruments can be streamed digitally,to the computer software you use for recording. An SPDIF connector also allows you to connect further interfaces such as the Focusrite saffire series, straight into the Ultranova's interface so the same convertors are used and your audio is streamed direct to the computer.
Automap and Controller Facilities
Users can get control of plug-in instruments and effects with Novation's Automap software. This converts UltraNova's 8 rotary encoders into software controllers, a large "Speed Dial' encoder gives users instant control over any software parameter that the mouse/cursor is over.
Touch-Sense Controllers
Novation have moved sound modification to the next level with encoders you simply have to touch! The 8 rotary encoders along the top panel of the Ultranova are assigned to modify different parameters of the sound you are using. Whilst playing you can simply rest your finger on any of the controllers and the sound will mutate with the assigned controller dial. This features makes the Ultranova an instant tool for mashing sounds up without the need for any synthesis knowledge whatsoever.
